PERCEPTION OF UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENTS ON THE USE OF SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP OPPORTUNITIES IN FEDERAL COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN NORTH-EASTERN, NIGERIA

Abstract:
This study aims to explore the perception of undergraduate business education students regarding the use of social networking sites for entrepreneurship opportunities in Federal Colleges of Education (FCEs) in the North-Eastern region of Nigeria. The increasing popularity and widespread use of social networking sites have opened up new avenues for entrepreneurial activities. However, the extent to which undergraduate business education students in FCEs perceive and utilize these platforms for entrepreneurial purposes remains relatively unexplored.

The research design employs a mixed-methods approach, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative techniques to gather comprehensive data. A structured questionnaire will be administered to a sample of undergraduate business education students from various FCEs in the North-Eastern region. Additionally, in-depth interviews will be conducted with a subset of participants to obtain detailed insights into their perceptions, experiences, and attitudes towards utilizing social networking sites for entrepreneurship.

The study aims to achieve several objectives: firstly, to assess the level of awareness among undergraduate business education students regarding the use of social networking sites for entrepreneurial opportunities. Secondly, to examine the perceived benefits and challenges associated with the utilization of these platforms for entrepreneurship. Thirdly, to explore the factors influencing the decision to use social networking sites for entrepreneurial purposes. Lastly, to identify the types of entrepreneurial activities that are commonly pursued through social networking sites.

The findings of this study will provide valuable insights into the perceptions and attitudes of undergraduate business education students towards the use of social networking sites for entrepreneurship in FCEs. The results will help policymakers, educators, and stakeholders in the field of business education to better understand the potential of these platforms in fostering entrepreneurial skills and opportunities among students. Moreover, the study will contribute to the existing literature on social networking sites and entrepreneurship, particularly in the Nigerian context.
