Abstract:
Technical drawing plays a crucial role in various fields of engineering and design, providing a foundation for the development of sustainable infrastructure and technological advancements. In recent years, the integration of computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, has revolutionized the field of technical drawing, offering students advanced tools and capabilities for creating precise and detailed drawings.

This abstract presents a study that investigates the impact of AutoCAD application on students' performance in technical drawing for sustainable development in Nigeria. The research aims to assess how the utilization of AutoCAD software affects students' learning outcomes, skills development, and their ability to contribute to sustainable development initiatives in the country.

The study employs a mixed-methods research design, incorporating quantitative measures of students' performance and qualitative analysis of their perceptions and experiences with AutoCAD. A sample of technical drawing students from selected tertiary institutions in Nigeria will be recruited for the study.

Quantitative data will be collected through pre- and post-tests, evaluating students' technical drawing skills, accuracy, and efficiency in creating drawings using traditional methods versus AutoCAD. Additionally, the study will measure students' understanding of sustainable development principles and their ability to integrate them into technical drawings.

Qualitative data will be gathered through interviews and focus group discussions, exploring students' perspectives on the benefits, challenges, and perceived impact of AutoCAD on their learning experience and their potential role in sustainable development initiatives in Nigeria.

Data analysis will involve statistical techniques to compare the pre- and post-test scores and identify significant differences in students' performance. Qualitative data will be thematically analyzed to extract key themes and patterns related to students' perceptions of AutoCAD and its impact on sustainable development.

The findings of this study aim to provide empirical evidence on the effectiveness of AutoCAD application in technical drawing education and its potential contribution to sustainable development in Nigeria. The results will inform educational policymakers, instructors, and stakeholders in the field of technical education about the benefits and challenges associated with integrating CAD software into the curriculum.

By enhancing students' technical drawing skills and promoting their understanding of sustainable development principles, the study aims to contribute to Nigeria's efforts in fostering sustainable infrastructure development, efficient resource utilization, and environmentally conscious design practices.
