IMPACT OF GOVERNMENT EXPENDITURE ON PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOLS TEACHERS’ WELFARE IN JOS-SOUTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF PLATEAU STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the impact of government expenditure on the welfare of public primary school teachers in Jos-South Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria. The welfare of teachers plays a crucial role in the quality of education and the overall development of the education system. Therefore, understanding the relationship between government expenditure and teachers' welfare is essential for policy-making and educational reforms.

The research utilizes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis and qualitative interviews. The quantitative analysis involves collecting and analyzing data on government expenditure allocated to public primary schools in the study area over a specified period. Additionally, data on teachers' welfare indicators such as salary, benefits, training opportunities, and working conditions will be collected. The relationship between government expenditure and these welfare indicators will be examined using statistical techniques.

Furthermore, qualitative interviews will be conducted with a sample of public primary school teachers, school administrators, and government officials to gain in-depth insights into their experiences and perceptions regarding the impact of government expenditure on teachers' welfare. The qualitative data will be analyzed thematically to provide a comprehensive understanding of the issues surrounding teachers' welfare and government expenditure.

The findings of this study will contribute to the existing literature on the relationship between government expenditure and teachers' welfare in the context of public primary schools in Nigeria. The research outcomes will inform policymakers, educational administrators, and other stakeholders about the effectiveness of current government expenditure policies and their implications for improving teachers' welfare. The study will also highlight specific areas that require attention and investment to enhance the welfare of teachers in Jos-South Local Government Area and potentially serve as a basis for broader educational reforms in the state and country.
